Monthly recap | May '14. Hair donation.

I always enjoy watching recaps from other bloggers, so that’s why I’ll be posting my own recaps. This wrap up is also my new ‘Showcase Sunday’ since I don’t have the time to do weekly hauls. Instead, I hope to capture it in vlogs every now and then.
OUAT
Highlights this month:
-Had me & my sisters birthday. Got a Game of thrones birthday cake.
-Donated my hair. (chopped around 30 cm of my hair off)
-Went to a free music festival.
-Started my short research.
-I had an interview for one of the two internships for next year and I got the place! It’s in a hospital I really wanted to work, so I’m thrilled.
-Had my wisdom tooth removed. The nerves were worse than the procedure. I believe I was five minutes in the chair and it was done! The days after were a little worse, but the healing looks great.
-Went away for the weekend to celebrate my parent’s 25 year marriage. They got a photo shoot from friends, so we went to a hotel for two days with all of them and had delicious sushi. I had a great time.
-Celebrated my grandfather’s birthday.
-Went shopping and got some awesome clothes (a little mermaid legging!)

Watched
1. Done with my GOT re-watch, so now I’m finally caught up with season 4. Despite hearing a spoiler (accidently) from my sister, I was still shocked by something. It was awesome.
2. Went to the cinema to see la belle et la bête with my mother and sister. I loved it!
3. Saw the episodes from OUAT and now I’m eagerly waiting for the new season to get started. Did you see it? *swoon*
4. I finished binge-watching The office. It’s hard to say goodbye after 8 season, but it was a great ending.
5. Up to date for The big bang theory and New girl.
6. The starving games. No idea why I watched it. Horrible (and secretly sometimes kinda funny”)
7. Anchorman 2. Not bad, but I liked the first one more.
8. Family weekend. Boring.
9. Captain Philips. Very impressive and tense story.
10. MALEFICENT IN 3D. IT WAS AMAZING.

  1. Hey Mel (: It sounds like the month of May has been pretty busy for you. The free music festival sounds like so much fun. Congrats on getting the internship! That's totally a huge deal and you must be too happy c: Ahh, wisdom teeth. I'm getting mine out soon and needless to say I'm nervous. I'm glad to hear that the actual surgery bit isn't that bad though. I need to see pictures of the Little Mermaid leggings, I bet they're super cute.

I need to start watching OUAT omg. I started watching it when it first came out but for some reason just stopped mid way through the first season. It seems to have gotten much better since then though and omg CAPTAIN HOOK. Lol on tumblr I keep seeing gifs of him and Emma and I can't handle the cuteness <33 I'm so glad you enjoyed Maleficent, some of the reviews for it scared me. Hopefully I can find time to go and see the movie for myself.

You've also had a pretty good month for books, I see a lot of 5 stars c: The fact you enjoyed In the Shadow of Blackbirds makes me so happy! It's so underrated and totally a favorite of mine.

Awww! Your bookhaul was great. Don't worry about feeling awkward, we all think we're awkward on camera when in reality it's really not that bad. I could feel yourself becoming more comfortable with the camera by the end of the video. I love your accent hehe (: I've been wanting to do a video something on YA Midnight Reads but I'm just not sure of what to do/say and I feel a tad awkward myself lol.

I totally agree about On the Fence, totally adorable c: I'm curious to see what you think of Stray, you're my trusted guide on all things fairytale afterall. I also hope you enjoy The Stepsister's Tale more than me. I just can't get into it. Think it's gonna be a DNF for me.

Wow, I typed a lot. Sorry haha :P I'm sure I'll see more great things from this blog in the coming months <33

    1. It was and we had great weather that day :D And thanks, I'm very very happy! And don't look on the internet. WARNING. I was SO scared by all the horror stories, but it's really not that bad. I always freak out when people want to poke me with needles and even those didn't hurt that much :) You can see the legging on my Instagram!

Oh yes, you need to catch up. Emma/Hook are adorable <3 There will always be negative things, but you need to experience it for yourself. I recommend Maleficent.

And finally! I had some 'meh' months where I read 2/3 star rating books. I finally found some good ones :D And thanks, I was nervous when I uploaded it on Youtube.

      Thanks for the long comment!

  2. Dang, you had a busy month. Rebel is in my TBR pile, and I hope to get to read it in June. I've heard a couple people say it was pretty good so that makes me happy. I was also on the fence about reading The Falconer, but if you gave it 5 stars then I might have to give it a try.

    1. My review for Rebel is already up on the blog, if you are interested :) And my review for The Falconer will be posted somewhere this month!

  3. Happy belated birthday! It's sounds like you had quite an eventful month. I'm going to see Maleficent tomorrow. I can't wait to see it. So glad you enjoyed it. I really need to read Angelfall. I have the book sitting in my pile waiting for me along with over a 100 other books. Haha! I love your accent. I've actually never heard someone Dutch speak before in a video. I've seen Say What You Will around. I'll definitely be on the lookout for it. You have a very awesome pile of books! Hope you enjoy the ones you haven't read yet.

  12. I love how you break down the month! My husband and I watch a lot of shows too, so it's neat to see what other bloggers are into. We are all caught up on GOT, and I'm excited for the new episode tonight. Alas.. this season will soon be over and it will be another year till the next. I"m not allowed to read the books, hubbys rules. I can only read up to the season we are on because he doesn't want me to know what's happening.

And yay for the little mermaid leggings!! :)

    Happy reading!

  15. YOU ARE SO CUTE.

Edelweiss attacked me again and I ended up downloading a bunch of books too. Agh. And of course I got the two Hook books from NetGalley. I'm a bit nervous about starting them because we just know that he's not going to be a dashing bloke with sexy eyeliner.

How did you do so much in May?! I thought MY month was busy, but that's probably just the end. Yours was crazy!

  23. You chopped off 30cm and you have still that much hair left??? WOW! I was thinking about donating too but I don't want to end up with super short hair (haven't put that much thought into it though, is there like a min length you have to donate? :D)

Your vlog was not awkward at all! I liked it! I don't even want to know how awkward I would have been doing this. I have so much respect for everyone making videos like this :D

I feel like I'm not going to resist The Falconer that much longer, as much as everyone seems to love it. I heard about the ending and wanted to wait at least until the next book is out BUT IT SOUNDS SO GOOOD >.<

  29. Happy birthday!! And do you have a pic of that cake? I'd love to see it! And congrats on the internship! (I think I might have typed too many exclamation points.) :)

I liked Captain Phillips, too. It was somewhat spoiled by the fact that, prior to watching it, it likely falsely portrayed Phillips as a hero. Most of the men on his ship said afterwards that he was reckless and steered the boat to to close to the coast, even knowing how dangerous it was. But still, it's Tom Hanks, and you can't really go wrong there!

  30. OMG MEL you are adorable!! I loved listening to you speak ♥ and thought you did an amazing job. Honestly. Now is the vlog after your haircut or before? You got a lot of great books anyways but I am sorry a few of them were letdowns :( As for your month, you look like you had a lot of fun family times with birthdays and anniversaries!! I'm very jealous that you already went to see Maleficent but I'm THRILLED you loved it :D I can't wait to go see it too, the BF is supposed to take me to see it next week hehe I'll be looking out for a LOT of your future reviews too!
