WoW 37. Vitro and Witchfall.

Vitro
On a remote island in the Pacific, Corpus scientists have taken test tube embryos and given them life. These beings--the Vitros--have knowledge and abilities most humans can only dream of. But they also have one enormous flaw. Sophie Crue is determined to visit Skin Island and find her mother, a scientist who left Sophie behind years ago. She enlists hunky charter pilot Jim Julien to take her there. But once on the island, Sophie and Jim encounter more than they bargained for, including a charming, brilliant Vitro named Nicholas and an innocent, newly awoken one named Lux. In a race for their lives, Sophie and Jim are about to discover what happens when science stretches too far beyond its reach.
I'm so so so so so excited for this book! It sounds like my cup of tea :D It's going to be a long wait.

Witchfall
July 4th 2013 by Corgi Childrens
London, 1554. At the court of Mary Tudor, life is safe for no one. The jealous, embittered queen sees enemies all around her, and the infamous Spanish Inquisition holds the court in its merciless grip. But Meg Lytton has more reason to be afraid than most - for Meg is a witch, and exposure would mean certain death. Even more perilous, Meg is secretly betrothed to the young priest Alejandro de Castillo; a relationship which they must hide at all costs. In the service of the queen's sister, Princess Elizabeth, Meg tries to use her powers to foretell her mistress's future. But when a spell goes terribly wrong, and Meg begins to have horrifying dreams, she fears she has released a dark spirit into the world, intent on harming her and those around her.

  2. Both picks sound great, but for me Vitro is more exciting. It has such a nice cover, and I've always been fascinated by books dealing with science and weird discoveries.

  9. SO I didn't love Origin. And I know this is a companion novel to that, but it also seems like new characters, and since that was my major issue with book one, I think I want to read this. And I love the cover.

  10. Ooo, VITRO sounds interesting. I liked her first book overall and knew she had a new one coming out, but I hadn't seen the cover or read the blurb yet--so thanks for getting me even more excited about it! :)

  17. Ooh, definitely keeping my eye on Vitro! I read Jessica Khoury's Origin and it was pretty good, so I'm interested in reading her latest for sure. Though... That cover could use a bit of work, haha. Awesome choices!

  23. Vitro definitely sounds interesting but I like Witchfall more. From title and cover this seems like it's perfect for me! And I haven't heard about it before. Thanks for featuring it!

  24. Witchfall looks so pretty! I think I'm going to add it even though I'm not a big fan of historical. The cover of Vitro is GORGEOUS and the synopsis sounds intriguing, but it sounds too similar to her other book, Origin. Plus I don't want to read anything by her because of the kitten murdering in Origin, that turned me off so badly that I can't help but steer clear of anything Jessica Khoury =/

  25. First time I'm seeing anything about Vitro, but I'm pretty much sold. I agree that it does sound a little like Origin, but I do love a good sci-fi book! Great choice!

  26. LOVE that cover of Vitro. I've been reading so much great sci-fi lately, so I'm going to snap up Vitro as soon as I can. Thanks for visiting.

  27. Seriously, the covers are completely enough to make me want to read Origin and Vitro...And I could imagine reading Witchfall, too. Usually with my historical fiction, I don't like to go too far back in time, but lately I've been interested in something that features long gowns and a royal court :) I hope you get these soon!

  28. Vitro sounds great, and I really liked Origin! I don't know if you know but Jessica Khoury had the first chapter or so up on her page a while ago.
I've never heard of Witchfall but I am SO adding it to my TBR! I love that period but I don't think I've read something set during Bloody Mary's reign so far. I wrote a long paper on Elizabeth so I'm familiar with all the power shifts etc and this will be an awesome read :D Thanks so much for bringing it to my attention!
Sorry I'm so late getting back to you...

  31. I also LOVE the sound of Vitro! and that cover is TO DIE FOR! I love the cover design team for Khoury's books!!

  32. Oh wow those sound really good! I just put them both on my TBR list. I really like Vitro's cover as well, it sounds unique! Whenever the word 'Hunky' is used I always imagine the sexiest, buff, kind male alive... And then I laugh because it's not a word I'm used to describing a sexy male lol.

  33. Eeeeek both of these look amazing and BOTH are new ones for me :D I just love that!! I'm off to add them to my TBR list! Thanks for sharing Mel ♥
