Rating: 5 out of 5. Favorite.

I loved Scarlet. She was smart and she can stand up for herself. She is good with knives and never let the boys tell what to do. She was quick with words and I laughed a couple of times. She is so strong and brave, I really admired her for that.

About the story. Scarlet is one of the band members and they steal so they can give the money to the poor people of Nottingham. The Sheriff has raised the taxes, so a lot of people are in trouble. Nobody, expect the band, knows that Scarlet is in fact a girl (and not just a girl.) Now the Thief Taker Lord Gisbourne has arrived and Scarlet has a shared past with him. Therefore, they must protect her, no matter what. She is not very pleased with that: she can take care of herself.

"And as for you, Robin of Locksley, on your big noble horse, I don't remember you helping none either. I got myself out of there, I got Much away from Gisbourna, and I am part of this band much as you. Stop talking 'bout me like I'm some lily-fingered lady!"

Unfortunately, things are not going according to their plan. They want to free the people who are supposed to be hanged, but they capture Robin instead. Scarlet is afraid and she comes with another plan. They are not happy with it, but Much and John accept it. Scarlet is going to trade herself for Robin on the wedding of the Sheriff.

And what will happen next? You have to find out for yourself ;) There is a lot of action and drama. If I were you, I would go and read this one! This book was very good. I just flew through the pages and I was never bored. Besides Scarlet, there is also John, who is crazy about woman. He is a real charmer. Much, the shy but brave boy with only one hand and of course the real hero, Robin. I loved it.

WoW 8. Juliet Marillier - Shadowfell.

Since I'm in love with Juliet Marillier her books, I can't wait for this one.

What I always like about Marilliers books, is that here writing style is so mysterious and it has a certain magical feeling. It always feels like a warm hug when I dive into her stories. Her characters have personalities with flaws and that makes them so real. And I love everything in this synopsis. This is a perfect book in my eyes. Dangerous journey, the Good Folk, Evil king, the legendary Shadowfell, handsome young man Flint. Ahhh, I wish I could right it right now!

I've read The Seven Waters so many times, that I can tell you almost word for word how the story goes. She's one of my favorites :)

Okay, so normally, I would to the top 10 Tuesday. Unfortunately, I don't understand the theme of this week.. Playing hooky with. I tried to translate it on the internet, but they don't know the word 'hooky'. I believe it means that you only read that book without doing anything else? But I'm not sure, so, I'm going to skip the Top 10 tuesday. I'm almost done in Scarlet, so keep watching my blog for that review!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Bridget, an Irish immigrant, is a lovely girl. She gets the name 'Bertie' to blend in more, but her red curly hair shows her real roots. Her father is quite certain about her skills, so he gets her a fancy job; making clothes for a rich family. Eventually, Bridget is very good at making clothes, but she's not as skilled as the boy who calls himself 'Ray.' Her works provides a lot of money for the family, but it also brings her a lot of trouble. She ends up alone with her younger sister Eileen and she doesn't know what to do.

Then Ray, who always pops up when she's not expecting, is there. He saves her butt the whole time. (He's so cute. I like how weird and different he is!) During a strike, Bridget gets a blow on her head and she falls unconscious on the floor. When she wakes up, her sister is gone and the family who is taking care of her, doesn't know where Eileen is. After a couple of days, Bridget finds out that Ray has her sister and she is afraid that he has claimed the girl as his reward (for making a couple of dresses)
 
I like how she made a very original story about Rumpelstiltskin and how nice it ends. Happily ever afters are the best.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

"My father hated those tales, told me they were made up by the Council to frighten people. 'Fear is a strange thing,' he used to say. 'It has the power to make people close their eyes, turn away. Nothing good grows out of fear.'"

Lexi lives with her mother, uncle and sister Wren in the Moor at the edge of the village of Near. It's a closed community where everybody knows each other. Strangers and witches are not welcome; that rule is stated by The Council. Lexi's father was different. He took her to the two witches who are living on the edge of the village and told her to respect them and the magic that surrounds them. He also taught her to be a hunter; a tracker and she is quite good at it. When her father died, her uncle became some sort of guardian. He is trying to protect her and her sister, but Lexi is too strong. I loved the fact that she always stood up against him. Heroins should be brave: they must not bow to the will of other men.

"Long, long ago, the Near witch lived in a small house on the farthest edge of the village, and she used to sing the hills to sleep."

That's what the children are told about the 'Near witch' as a bedtime story. When a stranger arrives, everybody is talking about it. Especially when a boy disappears and soon after him, more children. Lexi's uncle is the protector of the village and it's his task to find the missing children. He is blinded in his search and soon, the stranger is blamed for the missing children. Lexi knows where she can find him and she visit the witches, where he is hiding. He is a bit strange. Sometimes, it feels like he can vanish into the air, like he is some kind of ghost. He doesn't want to talk about himself, so Lexi gives him a name: Cole. She decides that she can trust him. He is going to help her to find the children, since her uncle has no clue.

Soon, Lexi discovers the truth. What if the Near Witch never really died? What if she came back to take revenge for her death? When Wren, her sister, is also one of the missing children, Lexi can think of only one thing. She must find out what happened to the Near Witch and better: what can she do to get her sister back?

Like is said, Lexi is a nice character. I liked to see the world through her eyes. Moor and Near sounded very magical. She is kick ass and I laughed couple of times. Her uncle tells her to stay inside: five minutes later, she is running in the forest to the Sisters. At first, I didn't like Cole. He was too distant, but when you get to know him better, he becomes a lovely character :) Wren is very cute! I just wanted to grab her and give her a hug.

There is certainly some action in this story, mainly at the end of the book. The story is a bit slow sometimes and it takes some time to really develop, but I enjoyed myself. If you like a book with a mystical feeling to it and told by a stubborn heroin, you should definitely read this one!

So, I came across this on another blog (Books, biscuits and tea.) It's completely new to me (obviously, I'm only blogging for two months) and I thought it sounded fun! I decided to participate in this event. Should be fun!

My aim is:
-Making new friends. Get to know other bloggers better. Exchange blog buttons.
-Make a new page where I put the links/blog buttons of blogs I follow.
-Adjust my review policy.
-Learning more codes and handy blog stuff, to make my reviews and blog look better.
-Get a book on NetGalley to review.
-Update the challenge list (books read in 2012)
-Clean up the sidebar.
-'Participate' in at least 10 old mini-challenges.
-'Participate' in at least 5 new mini-challenges.
-Clean up my list of blogs I follow.
-Make my 'review page' up to date.
-Look through old reviews and re-read them. Adjust mistakes.
-Set some new goals for my blog.
-Learn more about labels.

Old mini challenges:
-I know how to make a google form.
-I know more about organizing books. (I don't need it at the moment, but it's always nice to know more about such things.)

-I know more about labels and I decided to leave them. I don't want an endless list with labels on my blog. I link how the sidebar is right now. Perhaps I'll use it in the future, but for now, I don't want them.

New mini challenges:
-I've signed up for Mr Linky. I don't need it now, but you never know :)
-I now know more about HTML codes. The basics at least.
-I made two more pages, because they can be important for your blog. I was planning on making a page with all the blogs I follow, but now I also listed up all the blogs I made (except for the reviews. They already have a page.)
-I’ve found this very, very, very nice challenge about Windows Live Writer. I’m hooked and I’m never going to use something else than this. So much easier than uploading my blogs by blogspot. There are always mistakes and that makes it so frustrating to post. This <3 go and try it! It’s a program on your computer (or you can download it for free on internet).
-I signed up for my first Challenge (the 100 book challenge. You can see my new post :))

So I started to clean the list of all the blogs I follow. I'm halfway, but I don't think I can make it all the way. I will take it of the list, since I did most of the work! I also started a page to list up the blogs, but I must complete the first task before I can make that one. I will say that I completed half of it.

I really liked the first book 'Eve' and it ended with quite a cliff hanger. She left Caleb alone, while he was wounded, so she could flee to Califia. Before I read this summary, I didn't know if they would meet again (I expected it, but you never know.) Now, I really can't wait to find out what the real reason for her capture is. It sounds great to me.

1. Lauren Hammond - Asphodel. I need to say one world: mythology.
2. Robin Bridges - The gathering storm. Not really a spring book, haha, but I want to read this one for some time! A girl who can raise the dead? Sounds great to me.
3. Alex Flinn - Bewitching. I've read A kiss in time and I loved it. As it turns out, Kendra has actually had a hand in "Hansel and Gretel," "The Princess and the Pea," and "The Little Mermaid"-but these are not the fairy tales you think you know!  For me, it can't get more awesome than this.
4. Janet Lee Carey - Dragonswood. 1. Look at that cover. I can't stop staring at it. Kingdom, dragons, fairies? Helloo, how much more do you want? :D
5. A.C Gaughen - Scarlet. Robin Hood, that's all I have to say.
6. Heather Matthews - The secret of the Emerald sea. Beneath the waves of the glittering Emerald Sea, there is another world, filled with magic, strange and wondrous creatures, and many mysteries. 
7. Brodi Ashton - Everneath. The cover. The summary. Count me in.
8. Jodi Meadows - Incarnate. Again: the cover, the summary, I'm in.
9. Lauren DeStefano - Fever. I loved Wither, so I have to read this one.
10. Alexandra Bracken - Brightly woven. The cover is pretty and the summary makes me want to read it right now.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

 

It was okay and I might try the next one, but there were a couple of things I didn't liked, because they were too unrealistic.. The way Megan and Adam are drawn to each other, the whole love-deep-love-at-first-sight-thing was weird. And how Megan just seemed to accept everything without hesitation and problems, like she expected her life to be that way. Nope, couldn't buy that. And I didn't get a real connection with Megan or any of the other characters in the book. They were a bit flat. he story takes place in Ireland, so I expected more about the surroundings.

The story. Beware, spoilers!

Megan has been traveling with her father. Since the death of her mother, her father is restless and she goes to a lot of different schools. She never made any friends, but now they've settled in a lovely place. Her father has a great job and he seems to be happy to settle down. Megan meets a couple of girls who she befriends with. But, from the first day she started at school, she is mesmerized by Adam. He and his sister have a strange reputation, but she's drawn to him and he apparently to her.

They begin to date with each other and she's sucked into his life. Then she finds out that her accident (her mother died and she got injured really bad, it left a scar in her neck) wasn't just an accident. And the scar isn't just a scar, it's a mark. The mark of a Carrier. It appears that she has been chosen to be one of the elements. She is air and she's very special, because most of the time, a Carrier must be born with it. They made her to be the Carrier (difficult to explain, but you've read the book, so you understand.)

There are a lot of people who want them to die, because they can restore the harmony, but they want them for their power. Thew want to take the power and use it to rule the world. And when the good guys wants Megan and Adam to be apart (there's some kind of prophecy about a fifth power and they don't know how their child will be) there's more trouble coming. Can their love for each other survive?

Review 12. Michelle Zink - Circle of fire.

With time dwindling but her will to end the Prophecy stronger than ever, Lia sets out on a journey to find the remaining keys, locate the missing pages of the Prophecy, and convince her sister Alice to help--or risk her life trying. Lia has her beloved Dimitri by her side, but Alice has James, the man who once loved her sister--and maybe still does. James doesn't know the truth about either sister, or the prophecy that divides them. And Alice intends to keep it that way. There are some secrets sisters aren't meant to share. Because when they do, it destroys them. This stunning conclusion to Michelle Zink's Prophecy of the Sisters trilogy will make saying good-bye bittersweet for readers.

If you haven't read the other books, I must warn you. There are some slight spoilers.

 Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.

He speaks against my skin. "That is a simple question. You will be my love. My heart."

Damn, what a book! An awesome end to a wonderful trilogy. I really became friends with Lia, Dimitri and the keys. I must admit, Lia was very annoying sometimes. She kept bitching about the fact that Sonia betrayed her, but it was not that Sonia had a choice. I really wanted to smack Lia and tell her to shut up about it. She messed up the whole friendship with everybody. Brigid was lovely! And I fell in love with Gareth, haha. He sounds adorable. I sometimes felt bad for Alice.. I know, she's a villain, but one with a story. She's not just bad. I liked how Michelle made her a complex character.

About the story. This time, the game is on. Lia has decided that she can't longer wait to shut the gate for Samuel and his Souls. The call of the Souls becomes more tempted for her and she doesn't want them to enter the world. There's only one way to do it; end the Prophecy on the right time, with all the keys and the stone on the right place. They already know everything about the Rite, so they travel to Avebury. She even tried to persuade her sister Alice - because they need her power - but that failed. Lia wants to try it anyway, even if that means she will die attempting to resist Samuel. That took a lot of courageous and I respected her for that. Just when her relationship with Dimitri is developing in something more that a fling, she might lose it because of her stubborn sister.

The ending of the story is just.. amazing. I hoped for it, but I never expected it. Now I feel sad that I must part with these new made friends and I hope that this is just another 'happily ever after.'

I can say that I will keep an eye on this author. I can't wait for her next book 'A temptation of Angels'.

This week I read.

Michelle Zink - Guardian of the gate.

The ultimate battle between sisters is nearing, and its outcome could have catastrophic consequences. As sixteen year-old Lia Milthorpe searches for a way to end the prophecy, her twin sister Alice hones the skills she'll need to defeat Lia. Alice will stop at nothing to reclaim her sister's role in the prophecy, and that's not the only thing she wants: There's also Lia's boyfriend James.

Lia and Alice always knew the Prophecy would turn those closest to them against them. But they didn't know what betrayal could lead them to do. In the end, only one sister will be left standing.

The review is already posted, so if you haven't read it, go ahead! Because I really liked this book and I want to know how it ends, I started reading in the next book. Michelle Zink - Circle of Fire. This is the last book and I'm already feeling sad about it. I must admit, Lia can be annoying sometimes and you must be a fan of her writing style, but I just everything about it!

This week I'm still busy with.

It's a really nice book. I love the action in it and Rose(marie) is fantastic! The only reason I haven't finished this one is because I kept reading in Michelle Zink's trilogy. When I'm done with the last book, I will continue in this one.

I'm sorry that I wasn't so active this week! I was very busy with school and my lovely boyfriend, so there wasn't much time to post my blogs. I'll make it up to you, I promise! Next week, I'm all yours and I will try to post at least one blog every day :)

I'm also having some trouble with my blog.. Everytime I post a new blog, you can only see that one on my page. Normally, there should be 8 blogs on the page, so I'm trying to fix it. It sucks that I'm so bad at codes, layout designing and stuff like that. Again, thanks to Vivian! Without her, I wouldn't have a buttoncode :) And I hope I'll find a solution for this little, annoying problem.

What a pretty cover! I like how the face of that man fades away in the back ground. And not to mention the summary! Sounds terrific.
